Our 2005 Accomplishments
Defending Human Rights
Seer’s Arrest Campaign: HCC has been swift and consistent in responding to the arrest of the Kanchi Sankaracharya and subsequent attempts to debase and destroy the 2500-year old Kanchi institution. Our campaign which began in mid November has raised awareness within the broader Hindu community about the issues of concern surrounding the arrest and subsequent events. In addition, HCC has also provided a practical and effective means for individuals and organizations to lodge their protest with the government of India and Tamil Nadu, including their local representatives. Click here for a chronological summary of HCC’s campaign.Endorsement of Conservative Party of Canada
The Hindu Conference of Canada, after interacting and polling numerous Hindu groups and individuals, published in the National Post a high profile endorsement of the Conservative Party of Canada on the eve of the January 2006 federal elections. HCC is independent of all political parties; the endorsement was based on exhaustive analysis of the various platforms and positions with respect to Hindu interests, and was delivered as a powerful message from a proud and unified Hindu community.
